Species particularities
Syzygium cumini, commonly known as black plum, or jambolan, is an evergreen tropical tree native to the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and the surrounding regions. It’s one of the most widely distributed trees of India mostly due to the fact it tolerates prolonged flooding and once established it can also tolerate drought. For such resilience, it can be found in riverine habitats, it thrives in moist locations, but it can also survive in drier sites, except in very arid regions.
